Walton Hall: Walton Lea Road, Higher Walton, Warrington, WA4 6SN
Great for ghost hunts, Walton Hall is a beautiful grade 2 listed Elizabethan building, designed by Edmund Sharpe, whose history spans almost two hundred years. Famously owned by the brewing family The Grenalls, who became resident in the Hall around 1836. They added to the original structure in the late 1860's.
The last Lord Daresbury passed on the ownership of the Hall and it's Gardens to Warrington Borough Council in 1941 having no heir to inherit the Hall. Since then, the Hall has been sympathetically refurbished to become a venue for various events but still retains air of a stately home.
Over the years the staff and visitors to the Hall have reported some strange incidents. A ghost of a lady has been seen to
walk the main staircase – could this be the ghost of Lady Daresbury? Doors have been heard to slam shut and visitors have reported feeling unwell, hearing knockings and the feeling that they are not alone.
This has been a very active venue on previous events, with great table tipping results as well as good responses using glass work. A popular venue due to it's acitivty as well as it's natural beauty.
